Sleeping like a baby

We put link to sleep on his back in the middle of the crib. Then he cries and laughs and rolls around. 

We know Link is about to fall asleep when he assumes the sleeping position. 

Head smashed on side of crib? Check. 

Butt in air? Check. 

I can't imagine why he has strange sleep patterns.
