Links surgery

Our little Linker couldn't let mommy be the only one going to the hospital. Over the last couple of months we occationally noticed a small hernia, and decided it was time to have it fixed.

It's a short outpatient procedure, and we are lucky to live down the street from Stanford Hospital.

We weren't confirmed until the evening prior- just the stress mom needs at 38 weeks pregnant! Luckily we have a rotation of grandparent coverage to help out.

Link went the morning without eating. He had some milk, and we tried to push juice. Link has never had juice and we were afraid this would start a new processed food request. Turns out, link had no interest in juice.

So we got him out of the house, to the playground and kids museum, thanks Chris and ben!!

Once we arrived link stayed entertained and the entire staff was incredibly friendly.

Link was finally wheeled away and we had an hour of free babysitting. The surgeon and anesthesiologist had stellar reports.

Link was groggy for awhile and it was difficult when he got upset. That didn't stop him from 2 packets and 2 fignewtons in recovery.

We left the hospital 4-5 hours after arriving. Link dined on a toddler dream dinner of bbq chips, cookies, and a packet, with a side of ketchup.

He followed dinner with 3 episodes of Daniel the tiger while eating graham crackers and a cheese stick. Today was a win for processed foods companies.

Yes, we stole the scrub pants.

It may be a rough night, but kids are usually back to school the next day or two. You can bet that link will have a team of people catering to him while he recovers. Huge thank you to our village!
