Bed time bliss

Bedtime with Link and Lex has been pretty rough the last 6+ months. It would take 60+ minutes of one person dedicated to Lex to get him asleep. And a second person to keep Link away and quiet. Managing it together was tough, and on your own...we really tried to avoid it.

Jennifer's wedding weekend was a sleep low point for us. Lex was up for hours each night, and we have never been more tired than her wedding day. Even after my overnight labor I wasn't as tired. It was so bad I took a 20 minute nap after getting my hair and makeup done.  I'm not a napper. That was the final straw for us.

Ben could have a second career as a sleep trainer. Ben spent a couple of nights doing a couple hours each of sleep training. It wasn't so bad (or so he tells me). He would let Lex cry for no more than 5 minutes, then go in and hold him, calm him, and then put him down and leave. No lingering. Usually it only took a few rounds for Lex to fall asleep. Of course when those rounds are the middle of the night, it's super rough.

I couldn't help, because I cave and Lex winds up in bed with me. I'm totally OK with this, alas I was out voted. And I do agree with the theory that Lex should put himself to sleep, and not rely on us holding him. Even if it means giving up some snuggle time.

....UGH, and as karma for writing this post, Lex is awake 2 hours after going to sleep. Ben's not home...lets see what happens.

After putting Lex down, it's time to start Link's bath. We moved him to our bathroom so we don't wake up Lex. After books and milk, it's time for bed. Tonight Link told me he wanted to count to 100. I've never seen him make it past 20, so this was pretty awesome.

Yesterday Link's helmet came in, I special ordered the size and color to match his bike. He wore it home from the bike shop. It has a built in reflector and awesome magnetic closure. 

Lex comes to daycare pick up and drop off regularly. So much so that classroom parents think Lex is in the younger class at his school. Lex knows where the snacks are, and can't walk past the snack area with out frantically signing for "more" and walking to the comfy chair to enjoy his snack.
