Link (and Ben's) First Field Trip

Every Wednesday Link's class goes on a walk through the Bayland trails behind his school. It's adorable. The kids all wear matching walk tshirts with the schools name and phone number. They walk in a line. They're trained to "step to the side" when a biker comes through, clearing the path. They share this weekly special time with their neighbors, an adult daycare facility for people with memory loss. The Golden Castle neighbors are on the trail with their walkers, canes, and smiles for the kids. They frequently high five and sometimes even race.

Valentine's Day the kids had a very special outing, the teachers arranged a joint Valentine's Day party at Golden Castle. The kids walked across the parkinglot and enjoyed balloons, songs, bubbles, and Valentine's exchange with their neighbors.

A message from Link's teacher:
Happy Hearts and Love Day! We had an awesome excursion to Golden Castle (Please ask your children why it is named Golden Castle, the answer is so beautiful). Before we left, the children shared a few safety reminders: Be gentle, use quiet voices, walking feet, don't hug too hard, and high 5's/waves/handshakes are ok. We passed out our cards, met a few of our neighbors, and they surprised us with cards, bubbles and stamps. We then all joined in with "Music Sean" for a few songs. You could definitely feel the multigenerational love in the room. We are excited to see this partnership blossom. Special thanks to Ben and Tracy for joining us!
