For Link's first Valentine's day, he got a special treat...his Aunt Jenn surprised him and flew out to California for the weekend. Yes, this blog post is a few weeks late...but as an avid reader it's better late than never and the more pictures uploaded, the better. To warn you, this won't be as comical as Julie's posts (I'm not sure when she became so witty) but I do have plenty of great photos to share (she's not the only one who can snap great photos)!
I landed
Saturday AM, right in time for our usual chocolate chip pancake feast. This
was Link's second or third day attempting to eat real food. First it started off
with the baby milk guacamole and I think more of it ended up on me than in his
belly. (Let me tell you, I wouldn’t taste this guacamole if I was starving and there
were chips and a beer in front of me! Gross!) After a failed attempted and cold pancakes,
I moved on carrots. or was it sweet potatoes? either way, that didn’t work out well either, but Link loved the 1:1 attention and I did get to snap a very cute photo. It almost
made the 10 minutes of picking chunks of avocado out of my hair worthwhile.
Next up was
a walk downtown Los Altos…or at least preparing for it. Link’s stroller looks
like a sleeping bag on wheels, so it’s no wonder why he falls asleep right away. But
there's a catch...you have to be pushing him…So getting ready was a little bit of a
challenge but we had fun with Mike the Monkey. (That’s about as creative as I
get.)
A cute clip of us playing with Mike and his giggles.

Los Altos is
a nice typical/ beautiful silicon valley area. It’s a nice walk and we went by
his elementary school (he’s going to be there before we know it!) Many
neighbors have lemon, orange and other fruit trees…which as you know growing up
in Michigan is the coolest thing ever. However, they said I wasn’t allowed to
go and pick one L But I was treated to a very fancy coffee as
we sat outside relaxing and of course feeding Link.
When we got
back, Julie and Ben put his crib together while I got to babysit. The crib
looks so beautiful and matches all of his furniture. They got him a waterproof
mattress which will definitely be worth it for Mr. Spitsirup
We went to
my all time favorite restaurant for dinner, Xanh (http://www.xanhrestaurant.com/) and
we got there so early that it was still the early bird special, or happy hour
where everything was 50% off. There were
six orders placed and Lychee martini’s to go around. After dinner we walked
around our old stomping grounds of good ol’ Mountain View….
Link was great and slept through most of dinner, but loved joining us at the table.
On Sunday, I
took Link in the early AM so Julie and Ben could get some sleep (he didn’t have
the greatest first night in his crib) and we attempted a little bit more food.
We went on another quick walk and passed three strange containers out on peoples driveway.... A bin for 'Organics'? What? This is a site you'd never see in the south.
Because receiving food pictures are our next favorite besides Links photos, below is what we had for lunch on Sunday. The Tapjoy crew came over for a BBQ on a nice sunny day. They were all over for a few hours but coincidentally enough left moments after a surprise volcanic eruption that streamed right down the front and back of Ben's shirt. I know i'm not present for all of his spit ups, but I'm sure he reached a new milestone with this one.
There wasn't too much down time. As soon as they left, it was time for round two. Madlyn, Ben (her boyfriend), Roxy, and my friends Deb and My came over for dinner. Link was always the center of attention.

We placed him on the table and sat there while he amused us.
We utilized their firepit and made smores! It's very cool!
On Monday we went to my favorite sandwich shop (Village Cheese House...yumm) and had a BBQ at Zack and Mayumi's. Zack cooked an amazing burger and their two kids are very cute. Was quite the scene.

<3 Link your aunt Jenn loves you! <3
Link holding my finger as he slept in the car. He didn't want to let go! Neither did I!
It was a quick 48 hours, but we got a lot packed in! Julie and Ben must have a lot of energy because by the end of the weekend I was wiped! But a great visit!
Four days later I had visitors of my own. My parents and Karen came out to Dallas for the weekend. Was great to have them on my side of town. We went to great restaurants, the Dallas Arboretum, saw a view of the city from 60 stories up and even played life size Jenga. Play to video to see who lost. (Hint: it's who's wearing the red shirt)
Last weekend I experienced Mardi Grad in New Orleans for the day. Link when you're older I'll show you the remaining photos.
This weekend, I may stay in Dallas...but you never know...
Love,
Your Aunt Jenn
