Sleeping and routines

It has been way too long since Link has seen family. Here's an update for visitors, which doubles as a great log for Link's scrapbook.

A day in the life of 6 month old Link

• 7:15am Link wakes up and drinks a bottle

• 8:30am Solid foods and oatmeal at the breakfast table while we eat. He's really learning to love sitting at the table with us. 

• 10:00am Sometimes Link takes a nap
• Morning walk and play time 
• 12:00ish Bottle 
• 3:30pm Bottle and nap

• Afternoon walk and play time

• 6:30pm Bottle, possibly some solids, at dinner with us
• 8:00pm Final play time
• 8:30pm Bath time = Daddy time

• 8:40pm Book with dim lights
• 8:50pm Bottle
• 9:00pm Bedtime
• Link usually falls asleep pretty quickly
• If he's fussy we make sure he ate enough, then we let him cry for 10 minutes. We set a timer, because it feels like hours. 
• 9:15pm
• Link Almost immediately rolls to his tummy and curls up against the side of the crib
• We watch or listen to him all night on the Withings baby monitor

• 12:30am Linker yelps, usually doesn't fully wake up
• 3:30am Crying session
• usually of 6-8 minutes of tears
• Again, we set a timer. It's the saddest thing in the world. 
• If he cries for over 10 minutes we go in, pat him, talk to him, possibly reposition him. We try not to feed him. 

• 6:00am If he wakes up without going back to sleep, we bring him in bed with us. This hasn't happened in the last week. 
• 7:00am Anytime he wakes up after 7am he gets a bottle

Food

• Drinking around 30 ounces per day (I pump at 7:30am, 3pm, 11pm)
• We try to give him some baby oatmeal for iron. We usually mix it with breastmilk.
• Mom makes all of Link's baby food, it's blended with fresh breastmilk and frozen in ice cube size portions. We defrost it in a ziplock in warm water for about 5 minutes in the morning. 
• Fresh
• avocado
• banana
• Frozen
• butternut squash
• carrots
• sweet potato
• spinach
• apples with cinnamon 

Food skills

He understands the spoon and is usually pretty excited about eating, no airplane noises required. I'll admit, he's not a huge fan of avocado or spinach.  Regardless of the flavor, food ends up everywhere. Oh, and his diapers are looking like real poop. 1-2 per day. We joke it all comes out his mouth, as we haven't had any diaper horror stories (yet). 

Spitup

Yeah, it's still happening pretty much all of the time. He doesn't give much warning. The communal goal is to aim him towards the floor when he explodes. We're maintaining a rug free household until Linker grows out of this phase, usually by 9-12 months.
