11 Months!

Happy 11 Month Birthday Link!

Some accomplishments to remember on your 11 month mark:

Key stats

• Weight 20lb 12oz = 54%
• Height 2ft 5in = 42%
• Eyes =  Blue
• Hair = Light brown and ready for a haircut
• Happy = 98% of the time
• due to persistent congestion we nasal saline and suction your nose twice a day. You consider this the ultimate baby indignity. You cry, kick, scream, and your face turns red.

Transportation = Increasingly Efficient

• You crawl -- for real on all fours -- and quickly. In fact, you ran away from home last week. We were cooking in the kitchen and left the back door open. When we looked up you had crawled outside! 
• You pull yourself up to stand.
• You take steps...when pushed and supported. 
• You clap your hands when you're excited, and when you hear music. 
• You're OK in your stroller and car seat, but awake the whole time. No more naps en route.

Food = Increasingly messy

• Recently, you started refusing pureed food. 
• You prefer pieces of our food. Favorites:
• graham crackers
• blueberries
• crackers
• bread
• cheese
• meat in tiny pieces 
• sliced steamed apples
• baby puffs 
• eggs
• pancakes

Here's the family picnic lunch for your 11 month birthday

• You still drink about 12-15 oz of breast milk a day, mostly morning and bed time
• We're struggling with water. Grams suggested using a real cup, and you drink like a cat. You're not interested in sippy cups.

Screens = Something for Mom and Dad

• Still not happening, unless we leave you alone with Grandparents. They think educational games are OK. 
• Except Facetime, that happens all of the time. You enjoy hanging up on people, and pressing buttons. 

Communication = Increasing daily

• Signs
• UP = arms up
• YAY/MORE/EXCITED = arms flail 
• we're working on poop, no, and milk
• Talking
• your first word was GUY
• you like to say DA DA
• We think you don't understand, but then you do things that surprise us. At sign language class last week Jessica said the instructor showed a sign for a Duck (why this is important baby language, I have no idea). You started quacking! 
• Squealing
• You're starting a new phase, and I don't like it. It's loud and without cause. We need to work on this. 

Favorite passtimes = A mind of your own

• Banging things together, you're a natural percussionist
• Putting things in your mouth
• Squealing, loudly
• Playing with electrical outlets (all covered) and the inwall housewide vacuum outlets (not covered). 

Sleeping = You're the perfect child and other parents should hate us

• You still sleep on your tummy with your butt high in the air
• Usually with your head smashed against the side of the crib
• You sleep from 8pm-6am, fully through the night. Thank you. 
• You take two naps a day, a total of about three hours. Jessica thanks you. 

You're happy all of the time, stay happy baby!
